    Auditions for the SUU Cheer and Stunt Squad will be in


    The SUU Multi-purpose building

    April 10th, 2010

    Registration 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.

    Tryout 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


    Please come dressed in appropriate cheer/dance attire (shorts and appropriate, tight-fitting athletic top). Also wear athletic shoes with hair and make-up ready for performance.

    Female Cheer and Stunt
    1-Standing Back Handspring/Back Tuck
    2-Round off-Back Handspring Back Tuck/ Round off-Back Tuck
    3-Toss Hands Liberty
    4-Jumps, Kicks, Dance and Motions
    5-Optional Stunt that highlights Top flexibility (stretch/arabesque full down)

    Male Cheer and Stunt
    1-Standing Back Tuck
    2-Toss Hands Extension
    3-Crowd Leading and Motions

    Dance
    1-Strong Dance Technique
    2-Showmanship and Performance Ability

  • About Us

    In 2007 the Southern Utah Spirit Squad was formed, combining the cheerleaders and Waukeenyans together. The spirit squad has also been given more scholarship money than ever before. The cheer and stunt team are now under the direction of Sadie Spencer a former University of Utah Cheerleader, USA instructor, and Jazz Stunt Team member along with Wylder Samfong a former University of Utah Cheerleader, Weber State Cheerleader, and UCA instructor. The Waukeenyans are under the direction of McCall Scott. McCall has performed all over the Western United States training with masters such as Joe Tremaine, Wade Robinson, Rire Woodbury, and more. She has danced in many commercials, conventions, and fashion shows. McCall is New York City Ballet Certified and has been teaching dance for over 9 years from Southern Utah to Las Vegas. The Spirit Squad are important ambassadors for the University, they perform at football, both men's and women's basketball and make special appearances throughout the year. This upcoming year the Cheer and Stunt Team will also be competing, like the Waukeenyans at the National level.

  • Squad Responsibilities

    The Southern Utah University's Cheer and Stunt Squad represent the University supporting all athletic home events including Football, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Volleyball, and Gymnastics; as well as other activities and events as requested.

    The Cheer and Stunt Squad is represented under the hospice of the Southern Utah University's athletics department and are a participant of Clubs and Organizations.

    Scholarships are awarded based on seniority and achievement on the squad.
